Tasting Notes

The 2008 Chavez Family Cellars Alexander Valley Sauvignon Blanc combines minerality and fruitiness. It shows a slightly straw yellow color and a taste of grapefruit, honeydew, and citrus. It has a slightly tart long finish flavor.

On the Palate

The wine has a well-balanced acid note with hints of citrus and honeydew.

Vineyard

Grapes for the 2008 Chavez Family Cellars Sauvignon Blanc were grown by legendary grape grower Jim Murphy at Murphy Ranch Vineyards in the heart of the Alexander Valley on the East side of the Russian River bed. There is a long history of prized Sauvignon Blanc out of this vineyard.

Winemaking

The grapes for this Sauvignon Blanc were hand harvested in the early morning and pressed using a whole cluster press method. Using selected yeast strains, the wine was fermented at very low temperature and cellared at cool temperatures until bottling.
